This handmade Bowie knife follows the pattern of the Muela Magnum 26, the Spanish Bowie known for its long blade and natural stag handle. It is a Magnum 26-style knife, not a Muela product. It keeps the classic look of the original and changes two things buyers often ask about: it has a longer 12-inch blade, and it is made from D2 tool steel. The handle is genuine stag horn, and the knife arrives sharp with an original leather sheath.
How It Compares to the Original Magnum 26
Muela builds the Magnum Bowie in Argamasilla de Calatrava, Spain. The model takes its "26" from its 26 cm blade, about 10¼ inches. The factory knife uses stainless steel, a solid brass guard and stag scales, and it measures roughly 16 inches overall.
Our version keeps the stag handle and the big frontier Bowie outline, but it is larger. It measures 18 inches overall with a 12-inch blade, which suits buyers who want more reach than the original offers. If you are comparing the two, the length and the steel are the main differences.
D2 Tool Steel Blade
D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel with roughly 12% chromium. It is valued for holding an edge well through long cutting work. It resists rust better than plain carbon steel, but it is not fully stainless, so wipe the blade dry after use and give it a light coat of oil before storage.
Stag Horn Handle
The 6-inch handle is natural stag horn. Its ridged texture gives a secure hold, and its color and pattern vary from piece to piece, so your knife will have a handle that is slightly different from the one in the photos. Stag needs very little care. Keep it away from long soaking and high heat, and an occasional wipe with a little oil keeps it from drying out.
