This handmade replica recreates the Bowie knife from Seraphim Falls, the 2007 Western in which Pierce Brosnan plays Gideon, a former Union officer pursued across the mountains by Liam Neeson's Colonel Carver. The film knife is widely identified as the Muela Magnum 26, a Spanish stag-handled Bowie, and this piece follows that pattern closely. It is a replica, not a Muela knife and not a screen-used prop. It has a 10-inch D2 tool steel blade and a natural stag horn handle, measures 16 inches overall, and arrives sharp with an original leather sheath.
The Knife Gideon Carries
Gideon's Bowie is central to the film's survival story. Early on, after he is wounded, he uses it to dig a bullet out of his own arm while hiding from Carver's posse. From there it stays with him through the long chase across snow, forest and desert. That frontier look comes from the Muela Magnum 26: a long clip-style blade, stag horn scales and a heavy, traditional Bowie outline.
In size, this replica stays close to the factory Magnum 26, whose blade runs about 10½ inches and which measures roughly 16½ inches overall. The main change is the steel. Muela uses stainless steel, while this version uses D2 tool steel.
D2 Blade and Stag Horn Handle
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel with about 12% chromium, and it is valued for holding an edge well. It is semi-stainless, so wipe the blade dry after use and give it a light coat of oil before storage to keep it free of spots.
The 6-inch handle is genuine stag horn. Its natural ridges give a sure grip, and the color and texture differ on every piece, so no two replicas look exactly alike. To keep the horn in good condition, keep it out of standing water and away from strong heat.
