Description

This stag antler skinning knife keeps the natural crown of the antler at the end of its handle, with the raw tines left in place. The handle is 4 inches, the Damascus steel blade is 4 inches, and the knife is 8 inches overall.

Below the crown, the antler runs into a stack of brown leather washers divided by thin metal spacers, and a polished steel-colored guard sits against the blade. Antler is a natural material, so the color and texture differ from handle to handle, giving the grip rough and smooth areas in the same hand.

The drop point blade has a rounded belly and large ring and swirl patterns in the Damascus steel, so no two look the same. Because a drop point keeps the tip lower and easier to control, it is a popular shape for careful hide work, and at this size a skinning knife for deer is easy to handle. The knife comes as a drop point skinning knife with sheath: reddish-brown leather with cream stitching and three snap straps for fitting to a belt.
