This kitchen utility knife pairs a 7-inch satin-finished D2 steel blade with a black Micarta handle. Its slim, pointed blade sits between a paring knife and a full chef's knife. At 12 inches overall, it's sized for everyday prep jobs that are too big for a small knife and too fiddly for a large one.
The blade has a straight spine and a gentle belly near the tip, so it suits slicing tomatoes and onions, trimming chicken, portioning cheese and cutting sandwiches. The pointed tip helps with scoring and small detail cuts. As a utility kitchen knife, it's often the first one you pick up during weeknight cooking.
D2 is a high-carbon tool steel with a high chromium content, which makes it semi-stainless. It resists staining better than plain carbon steel, but it's still best to hand wash it and dry it right after use. The 5-inch Micarta handle is a dense composite of fabric layers set in resin. It's fixed with two pins and holds up well in a kitchen where hands are often wet.
