This Halloween Michael Myers knife is a handmade replica of the large kitchen-style blade carried by the masked figure in John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) and the films that followed. It measures 18 inches overall, with a 12-inch D2 tool steel blade and a 6-inch wood handle, and it arrives sharp in an original leather sheath.
Michael Myers is defined by one simple, ordinary tool: a big, wide-bladed kitchen knife. In the 1978 original it is widely identified as a Lamson chef's knife, and the plain household look is exactly what made it so unsettling on screen. Nothing about it is exotic, which is the point.
The franchise never kept one single prop. Different knives appear across the sequels, and some films used more than one size, but the silhouette stays the same every time: a broad blade, a straight edge running to a sharp point, and a simple wooden handle. That shape is what fans recognize instantly, from the original film through the 2018 continuation.
At 18 inches overall, this replica sits right in the range of the screen knives, which ran roughly 17 inches in the original film. The 12-inch blade gives it the same imposing reach in hand or on a wall.
The blade is D2 tool steel, a high-carbon, high-chromium steel that holds an edge well and resists stains better than plain carbon steel. It is not fully stainless, so wipe it dry after handling and add a light coat of oil from time to time.
The 6-inch wood handle keeps the plain kitchen-knife character that suits the character, with a warm grain that varies from piece to piece. Avoid soaking it, and a little oil now and then keeps the wood from drying out. This knife is handmade in the Lamson style and is not produced by Lamson.
Each piece is made by hand, so small differences in finish are part of its character. The fitted leather sheath protects the edge for storage or display.
