This handmade Ghostface knife replica is based on the blade carried by the masked figure in Wes Craven's Scream, first released in 1996. The knife from Scream is a Buck 120 hunting knife with a long clip-point blade, and its silhouette became as recognizable as the Ghostface mask itself. This piece follows that outline but is made as a collector's version rather than a copy of the factory knife. It has a pattern-welded Damascus steel blade and a natural horn handle, and it is not made by Buck. It arrives sharp with an original leather sheath.
What Knife Does Ghostface Use?
Across the Scream films, Ghostface carries a Buck 120, a big American hunting knife with a clip-point blade, a fuller running along the spine and a compact guard. The factory 120 has a blade of about 7⅜ inches, measures 12 inches overall, and uses a black handle with aluminum fittings. Prop versions changed somewhat from film to film, but that clip-point profile stayed the same.
This Scream knife replica keeps the same overall proportions and is a little larger, with an 8-inch blade and a 13-inch overall length. The materials are where it parts ways with the screen knife.
Damascus Blade and Horn Handle
The movie knife has a plain polished blade. Here, the blade is Damascus steel, layered and forged so that a flowing pattern runs from the guard to the tip, and the pattern is different on every knife. Keep it dry and give it an occasional light coat of oil to protect both the steel and the etched contrast.
The 5-inch handle is natural horn, which gives each knife its own grain and shading. Horn is comfortable to hold and needs little upkeep. Keep it away from long soaking and high heat, and a little oil now and then keeps it from drying out.
