This handmade Expendables 2 knife is a replica of the long Toothpick carried by Sylvester Stallone as team leader Barney Ross. Knifemaker Gil Hibben created the design as an entirely new pattern for The Expendables (2010), and Stallone brought it back for The Expendables 2 (2012), making it the knife most closely tied to Barney Ross across both films. This version has a 12-inch D2 tool steel blade, a 6-inch wood handle and an 18-inch overall length, and it arrives sharp with an original leather sheath.
Stallone has collected Hibben's custom knives for years, and the Expendables films continued a partnership that began with the Rambo III Bowie. For the first movie, Hibben built Barney Ross a slender 17½-inch Toothpick, while a huge custom Bowie changed hands between Dolph Lundgren's Gunner Jensen and Jason Statham's Lee Christmas. Both knives returned for the sequel, and the Toothpick stayed on Stallone's hip.
The design follows the Arkansas toothpick, a long, narrow Bowie-family pattern with a straight, tapering blade that runs to a sharp point. The licensed factory reproduction of the film knife uses an 11⅞-inch mirror-polished stainless blade with a brass spine plate and a hardwood handle carrying an inlaid panel etched with the Expendables skull emblem.
This The Expendables 2 Bowie knife replica keeps that long, lean profile at almost the same size, with a 12-inch blade in D2 steel and a plain wood handle. It is handmade and is not a Hibben production piece; Hibben is credited here as the designer of the original film knife.
D2 is a high-chromium tool steel valued for holding an edge and standing up to wear. It resists rust better than plain carbon steel but isn't fully stainless, so wipe the blade dry after handling and add a light coat of oil from time to time. The length of a toothpick blade makes that easy to overlook near the tip, so give the full blade the same attention.
The 6-inch wood handle balances the long blade and brings natural grain to the knife. Keep it away from soaking and high heat, and an occasional rub of oil or wax stops it from drying out. For long storage, keep the knife out of the leather sheath so moisture doesn't sit against the steel.
