Description
This handmade Bowie knife pairs a 12-inch D2 tool steel blade with a 6-inch Micarta handle, giving it an 18-inch overall length. It is built full tang, so the steel runs the length of the handle instead of stopping partway inside it, a layout many buyers look for in a large fixed blade.
D2 is a high-carbon, high-chromium tool steel and a common pick for big Bowie blades. It is not fully stainless, so wiping the blade dry after use and adding a light coat of oil now and then will keep the finish clean.
Micarta is made from layers of fabric or paper set in resin. Unlike natural wood, it doesn't soak up water, which suits a knife that may travel to camp, the cabin or a hunting trip.
