Description

This Expendables Bowie knife is a handmade replica of the big Gil Hibben Bowie seen in The Expendables (2010) and The Expendables 2 (2012). It measures 19 inches overall, with a 13-inch D2 tool steel blade and a 6-inch camel bone handle, and it arrives sharp in an original leather sheath.

Gil Hibben's Bowie for The Expendables

Custom knifemaker Gil Hibben, already known for his Rambo knives, created the blades for Sylvester Stallone's ensemble action series. The standout was a large Bowie of about 19 inches, a modified take on Hibben's Alamo Bowie. On screen it carries an ivory-colored Micarta handle scrimshawed with the Expendables skull-and-raven emblem, along with a brass-toned guard and a blade catcher in the old Bowie tradition.

In the first film, the knife passes between Dolph Lundgren's Gunnar Jensen and Jason Statham's Lee Christmas, and Lundgren carries it again in the sequel. Its sheer length and classic clip-point profile make it one of the most recognizable knives of the series.

Full-Size Blade, Camel Bone Handle

This replica keeps the film knife's overall scale, at 19 inches end to end. Its 13-inch blade gives it the long, commanding reach that defines the screen piece.

The blade is D2 tool steel, a high-carbon, high-chromium steel that holds a keen edge and resists stains better than plain carbon steel. It is not fully stainless, so wipe it dry after handling and add a light coat of oil from time to time.

The handle is natural camel bone rather than the Micarta of the film knife, so each one has its own grain and subtle color shifts. Keep it away from long soaking and high heat, and wipe it clean with a dry cloth.

This knife is handmade and is not produced by Gil Hibben or Hibben Knives. Small differences in finish are part of its handmade character, and the fitted leather sheath protects the edge for storage or display.
