Description

This handmade Atreus knife is a replica of the blade Kratos gives his son in God of War (2018), the knife Atreus carries through the rest of the Norse saga and into God of War Ragnarök. It is a fan-made collectible, not an official Santa Monica Studio or PlayStation product. It is built with a 1095 carbon steel blade and a wood handle, arrives new and sharp, and comes with an original leather sheath.

The Knife Kratos Made for Atreus

In the game, Atreus starts out with his mother Faye's knife. After that blade breaks during a trap in Tyr's Temple, Kratos gives him a replacement. Kratos explains that on the day Atreus was born he forged two matching knives from a mix of Greek and Midgard metals, keeping one for himself and saving the other until his son was ready for it.

The moment matters because it marks Kratos starting to trust Atreus. From then on, this is the knife the boy uses for carving, hunting and finishing fights alongside his father, and it stays with him for the rest of the story.

The knife becomes even more important in Ragnarök. When the old wolf Fenrir dies early in the game, Atreus unknowingly draws the wolf's soul into his knife. Later in Helheim, he moves that soul into the body of the giant wolf Garm, which brings Fenrir back. Because of this, the knife is part of the story, not just equipment.

Handmade in 1095 Carbon Steel

The 7-inch blade is forged from 1095 carbon steel, a traditional high-carbon steel that takes a keen edge and is easy to resharpen. The wood handle gives the replica a warm, natural feel that fits the Norse setting of the games. At 12 inches overall, the knife is a substantial full-size piece rather than a small prop.

Carbon steel can darken over time and develops a gray patina with handling. To keep it from rusting, wipe the blade dry after use, apply a light coat of oil, and avoid storing it in the leather sheath for long periods.
